Powerful new Barley fungicide well received

MIRAVIS Flexi in barley crop

MIRAVIS® Flexi gained registration in New Zealand in March 2024. A fourth generation SDHI (Group 7) fungicide powered by the active ingredient ADEPIDYN® technology, it was widely adopted in the barley market last season.

Ross McCallum, Territory Sales Manager for Syngenta based in Ashburton, reports excellent feedback on this powerful and flexible formulation. "The solo formulation of MIRAVIS® Flexi has been particularly appreciated.  It offers growers and field representatives the flexibility to choose the best fungicide mix partner for their specific conditions and needs."

“Growers understand that diseases such as Ramularia leaf spot and Scald can both cause significant yield losses if not properly controlled. The powerful, long lasting and consistent control of these diseases with MIRAVIS® Flexi was evident this season.”

“MIRAVIS® Flexi has excellent compatibility with a range of other fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and plant growth regulators tested in our comprehensive crop safety trials. This made it easy to recommend different tank mix combinations, appropriate for any given situation, giving growers added peace of mind”

MIRAVIS® Flexi offers flexible application timing from GS 32-49 based on the disease risk present at the time. A minimum interval of 14 days must be observed if two consecutive MIRAVIS® Flexi applications are made.

“It is also important that resistance management guidelines, designed to delay the onset of resistance are strictly followed.  Therefore, a maximum of two MIRAVIS® Flexi or any Group 7 SDHI fungicides applications should be made per season.”.

“MIRAVIS® Flexi should always be applied preventatively at a rate of 1.2 L per hectare and in mixture with another approved, non-cross resistant fungicide recommended to control the same target diseases. The addition of an approved triazole fungicide is recommended” says McCallum.

“Syngenta has a deep investment in the New Zealand cereal industry and provides excellent stewardship to the products registered in cereals, this includes well-known brands AMISTAR®, ELATUS® Plus and MODDUS® Evo and TWINAX® Xtra.  With continued industry support from growers and distributors we look forward to bringing new products to the market in the future”.

Purchases of MIRAVIS® Flexi and other Syngenta products qualify for free spray nozzles.
