COVID-19 update and what Syngenta is doing to support our people, customers and communities

Syngenta
COVID-19 update

Paul Luxton Syngenta Managing Director ANZ provides an update to measures in light of COVID-19

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we remain committed to supporting our people, our customers, and our wider community. All of us are facing extraordinary circumstances, but together we are rising to meet these challenges.

As restrictions in New Zealand have tightened, we have taken actions to prioritise the health and well-being of all while minimising disruption to our customers as much as possible. Our actions are based on the expert medical advice of the relevant authorities. To date, we have taken the following steps:

  • Our head-office in New Zealand has been closed for the foreseeable future with all staff now working from home. As an organisation, we have always facilitated working remotely using our business-embedded digital tools. I am confident that we will continue to serve our customers exceptionally well.
  • We continue to conduct all meetings via video conference (Zoom) or telephone while any essential face-to-face meetings will require prior approval. If and where these are approved, social distancing measures will be strictly followed.
  • We are putting some events on hold, contingency planning for some events that can continue for now, and looking into alternative ways to engage with our customers and our wider community where we can.
  • No international or domestic travel is permitted until further notice. Regional travel by car is for essential business purposes only and in accordance with government requirements.

Production and logistics are the two key areas we continue to monitor and manage as we navigate COVID-19 economic disruptions. Presently, there are no significant impacts to the production of Syngenta products. There are some logistical challenges, particularly with air freight because of flight cancellations, and we are working on ways to reduce these supply risks.

With agribusiness deemed an essential service, it is fortunate we can continue supplying the agricultural tools farmers need to sustainably produce food, feed and fibre. We look forward to continuing to work with you and I will provide further updates over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.
