ACTIGARD®
ACTIGARD® is a systemic plant activator that triggers internal defence mechanisms in kiwifruit. By stimulating Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR), it primes the plant's immune system to build a highly resilient canopy, reducing the impact of Psa (Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae) when vines are most vulnerable.
Benefits of applying ACTIGARD® for Psa control
- Activates natural plant immunity
ACTIGARD® uses a unique mode of action to trigger Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) in kiwifruit vines, switching on the plant's natural defence system to fight Psa infections from the inside.
- Systemic protection for rapid new growth
ACTIGARD® moves systemically through the vine and ensures rapidly expanding spring canopies and developing buds are actively protected as they grow.
- Strategic defence during high-risk windows
ACTIGARD® provides protection when vines are most vulnerable to Psa. Apply in spring (from 25mm leaf diameter through to pre-flowering) to protect the developing canopy, and also immediately post-harvest and before leaf fall to defend the hundreds of thousands of wounds created by fruit stalks and leaf fall from Psa infection.
- Proven crop safety across key varieties
Extensive trials confirm ACTIGARD® safety on Hayward, Gold3, and Red19 varieties. When applied to actively growing, unstressed vines, it delivers powerful Psa protection without negative impacts on canopy growth, fruit weight or dry matter.
